U30 Coaches Experience

The U30 Coaches Experience is a unique opportunity for young United Soccer Coaches members, ages 16-30, to get involved and experience the annual Convention. This free event will provide opportunities for attendees to expand their networks within the soccer industry and interact with top coaches in an intimate setting.  

This year’s program will consist of Fire Away Q & A sessions with industry professionals and culminate with a social on Friday night. Fire Away sessions will give attendees the chance to ask questions and connect with top coaches in a small group setting. Sessions will take place on Friday January 19, 2018 from 4:00pm-5:15pm. Each session is limited to 30 registrants, so register now to secure your spot!

Derek Shoare

Derek is one of the Founders and Senior Vice President of Challenger Sports.
Derek is presently the Volunteer Assistant at the University of Kansas Womens Soccer.
Derek, a native of Wolverhampton, England, has been involved in American youth soccer programs for nearly three decades. In 2004, he took over the KC Dynamos and established the program as one of the top clubs in the U.S. The Dynamos advanced to the U.S. Youth Soccer (USYS) national semifinals three times under Shoare (2005, 2014, 2015) and claimed the Kansas State Cup an impressive 17 times while he was a member of the Dynamo staff. His squads amassed four Region II titles championships. 
Derek was selected as the Kansas Youth Coach of the Year in 2005, 2010 and 2014 as well as the Region II Coach of the Year.

John DeWitt 

Coach De Witt is the Head Sports Performance Coach for the Houston Dynamo Academy and Fitness Coach for the Houston Dash. He is responsible for developing individualized on field fitness prescriptions for the U16 and U18 academy teams and the senior women’s team. Coach De Witt has also served as the Fitness Coach for the Trinidad & Tobago Senior Women’s National Soccer Team, where he worked with the coaching staff and external fitness coaches to create training programs for team players. Coach De Witt has had collaborations with English Premier League and Eredivisie, NBA, and NCAA Division I Football Teams, and with coaches and athletes in professional boxing. He is an expert at providing information based on sound scientific evidence to coaches and athletes in their language. Coach De Witt also works as the Senior Biomechanist in the NASA Exercise Physiology Laboratory and has presented at multiple past NSCAA Conventions.

Ian Barker and Samantha Snow

Ian Barker has been with the United Soccer Coaches as the Director of Coaching Education since 2012. Prior to his current position, he served as men’s soccer coach at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn. He also has collegiate coaching experience at the University of Wisconsin, serving as an assistant coach from 1989-1996. In the eight-year span with the Badgers, Barker joined the squad in four NCAA tournament appearances. In 1995, the Badgers won both the Big Ten and NCAA National Championships. From 1997-2007 Coach Barker served as the director of coaching and player development for the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA). As a state association, the MYSA represented over 140 clubs and 75,000 members. Barker has served on the national instructional staff for the NSCAA, U.S. Soccer and U.S. Youth Soccer. His formal coaching qualifications come from the United Soccer Coaches, U.S. Soccer, U.S. Youth Soccer, the English FA, and the German DFB. As a coach and coach educator, Barker has traveled extensively in Europe, South and Central America, and Africa.
